// Experience

Different sectors. The same lesson.

Our team has worked on health information systems, national identity, banking and smart city planning. Each sector is different. Each taught us the same thing: technology lasts when ownership, governance and capacity are designed in from the start.

These examples come from the work our team members have done over their careers, including before S&G. They describe what we have seen and contributed to. None is presented as an S&G engagement.

Where our experience comes from

Health information systems

Team experience

Members of our team contributed to Sierra Leone's first National Health Information Hub, which now connects more than 1,000 health facilities.

Why it matters for you: The core of most foundation and ministry engagements: getting separate systems to exchange data in a way the institution can own.

Working inside government

Team experience

Members of our team have worked from inside national government on digital policy and delivery, rather than advising from outside. It shaped how we think about mandates, decision rights and budgets.

Why it matters for you: Knowing how decisions, mandates and budgets work inside a public institution.

Designing for low connectivity

Team experience, 2018 prototype

An early, self-funded prototype for remote monitoring of water infrastructure in Sierra Leone, sending SMS alerts where data connections were unreliable. It was a prototype and was never a national system.

Why it matters for you: Designing for low connectivity and unreliable infrastructure from the first line of the design.

Regulated banking and payments

Team experience

Members of our team have led engineering on regulated banking and payment platforms, where security, uptime and accountability are not optional.

Why it matters for you: Regulated, high-availability systems where governance, security and accountability cannot be optional.

We are happy to discuss relevant experience in detail in a first conversation.
